Film Production - Final Video MMR
Overall I am very happy with the video we produced in the amount of time we had, especially as we had to go back to the drawing boards to re-plan and re-write the script of the video during the start of the second week. Basically rendering the first week completely useless. There are plenty of things I would change, reshoot or add if I had more time on the project and some of the colour correction is not perfect because of the monitor we used had not been calibrated properly. The controlling idea is over-coming anxiety to speak up to someone the protagonist likes
Film Production - Making Video
So Me and Ryan wrote a rough script of what I wanted to happen in the video and the first scene I wanted to film because of the weather was a scene of the main character screaming in an big wide open empty space. However when getting there the actor wasn't comfortable with doing that and realising the are we chose was not entirely safe to return to we had to rewrite the bulk of the "imaginary emotional struggle" to something safe and easy for her to do.
We came up with her being stuck in a house and opening each door lead to a build of tension or showing some sort of physical difficulty/threat which was supposed to represent her mental thought processes.
We used a lot of equipment for this project primarily because of what was luckily available even if we didn't need it. I wanted this video to look as high quality as possible because it is classed as an artistic production and I want to show off my cinematography abilities. I wanted it to look as cinema like as possible.

Film Production - Initial Ideas
So for our Film Production period we have been set a project to produce a two minute (rough) video which tells a story through a value and cause. I was told to avoid cliches as much as possible along with voice overs so narrative. I went onto a site called 1 minute movies which shows a number of independent film makers work, showing how power a single minute can be if you use it correctly.
So I decided to brainstorm a couple of ideas down on paper. I wanted to create a story which was complicated to the point where the viewers wouldn't necessary understand or tie all the elements of the video together till the final scene. Basically making the audience leave the video thinking that was very clever. I also wanted to produce a more artistic style of a film rather than a literal video.
There were three main ideas that I came up with, which fitted my specifications above. The first was the idea of catching eyes with some in a public place, and an instantaneous montage of all the scenarios that could develop from coming into contact with her/him. The second was idea of an addicting injecting a drug into his/her system and going on a bad trip. Then finally a video about the emotional struggle a person with a stutter or someone suffering from anxiety has to speak up. My favourite was definitely the last one because I had the idea of filming this "emotional struggle" in an artistic style to have random acts to represent the roller coaster going on in this persons brain.

Originality
Script
Something that is stressed in tonnes of reviews and criticism's is whether a piece of work is original or not. "Is this original? Where's the originality? This is not original enough"
However does originality really affect your enjoyment?
Everyone now-a-days wants to be classed as "original"; from the fashion industry with their ridiculously unwearable clothes to your everyday hipster trying to produce the most complicated cup of starbucks coffee, to then share of instagram.
But I ask, why?
If it already works, why change it?
Is this 21st century label, originality, really important enough to throw away something that could potentially impress or be enjoyed by hundreds, maybe even millions of people? If everything was so different, so original, none of us would be able to connect.
Everyone is different in their own unique way, but it is the things we share; our personalities, our looks, our background, that truly unite us.
So why be original when we can just be ourselves.
